Clearly Besotted 'Love Blossoms' birthday card

Fairy tale challengeblog

Hello everyone,

I'm delighted to say that I have been asked to be a guest designer over at the Fairytale Challenge Blog and this time the theme is 'use kraft paper'. I decided to make a card for my crafty friend Anne, who celebrated  a significant birthday this week, and I came up with this card:-

I used my NBUS Clearly Besotted Love Blossoms stamps and dies along with with the Papertrey Ink Wet Paint sentiment stamps. I stamped the branch in white ink from Hero Arts and that stamped again, slightly below it in brown ink to give a shadowed look, and I did the same with the flowers.

Why not pop over to the Fairytale Challenge Blog to see some inspiration from the talented DT and join us in the Kraft paper challenge.

Papertrey Ink Tag Sale 8 birthday card

Blog-hop-logo

Hello everyone,

Just a quick post today because I don't want to miss this month's Papertrey Ink Blog Hop. Nichole gave us a wonderful quatrefoil inspiration photo this month

Blog Hop Inspiration

and I took inspiration from the pattern and some of the colours to come up  with this card

I  stamped some watercolour paper with the quatrefoil stamp and then embossed it in clear embossing powder before watercolouring over the top to give a gradient of colour, This was cut out with Tag Sale 8. I die cut and stamped the tulip from Flower Fusion #3 in pink and then stamped again using red ink to give a depth to the colour, before mounting the flower onto the tag. The background flourish was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder, and the sentiment banner and some ribbon finished it off.

Clearly Besotted Christmas card using 'In Print'

Hello everyone,

I hope you are having a good weekend, and managing to squeeze in some crafty time. It is time for another challenge over at Christmas Card Challenges and this time the theme is the ever popular 'anything goes', so why not join us and feel satisfied that you have started your pile of cards for next year.

I came up with this card using the Clearly Besotted 'In Print' stamp set

I used the fingerprint image and added the antlers to make a cute reindeer. I thought he looked a bit pale and sickly so I chalked on some cheeks and added glossy accents to the nose because Rudolph really needs a shiny nose doesn't he? To make him a bit more festive I took a little party hat from WPlus9 'Unforgettable' and added that along with a little bow tie. The sentiment came from another CB set and from Papertrey Ink Tag-its # 8. I cut the red frame from 2 rectangle dies and mounted it on foam tape to some stripey paper from PTI.

I couldn't resist giving you a close up of that shiny nose with the reflection of my window in it!

Clearly Besotted with sympathy card

Simply Create Too

Hello everyone,

It's time for the mid post at the Simply Create Too Challenge where the theme is the ever popular Anything Goes. Sadly, I had need of a with sympathy card recently, so made this card. I always find it difficult to get the tone right with a sympathy card and this one was for a man who had lost his mother, so I decided to go for the darkish basecard but still keep a soft flower image.

I cut a square panel of Tim Hottz watercolour card and stamped the image from the Clearly Besotted 'Thinking of you' stamp set, before embossing it with white embossing powder. I watercoloured the flower and let it dry before layering it onto a panel cut with a stitched square die from Lil'Inker Designs. I made the basecard from Papertrey Ink tropical teal cardstock and stamped it in versamark ink with the Impression Obsession Canvas cover a card background stamp to give it a little texture. The sentiment from PTI was also embossed in white and I added a few enamel dots. I used a punch to cut some semicircles on the bottom of the card to finish it off.

Why not pop over to the Simply Create Too Challenge blog to get some inspiration and join in with us. You still have a week to get your entry in!

Papertrey Ink and Simon Says Stamps Metallic February birthday card

8th-Anniversary-Logo
Hello everyone and Happy Valentine's day. My lovely hubby got me a beautiful card and a couple of cds that I've been wanting, so I'm sitting listening to wonderful piano music as I write this.

I'm still playing catch up over at the Papertrey Ink 8th birthday celebrations and they are going to be releasing lots of metallic elements soon so they asked us to make a card with a metallic theme. I have a friend whose birthday falls on Valentine's Day, so I made her this card:-

I used a Spellbinders embossabilities folder for the gold border, and Simon Says Stamps Frame dies for the little panel. The stamped greeting is from the Birthday Classics : February Stamp Set, and I first tried embossing it with my gold embossing powder. Unfortunately the gold finish was more of an antique gold and it really didn't go well with the bright gold card, so I hunted around to see what else I had. I found some Brilliance Galaxy Gold ink that I can't have used for at least 5 years, and I was amazed that it hadn't all dried up long ago. It was a bit pale when I stamped it but thanks to my wonderful Misti, I was able to stamp it 3 times to build up the colour and I think it ended up matching really well.

The butterflies were in my stash and had been cut out on my Silhouette Cameo, so I just inked the wings and shaped them a little before sticking them on.

Silhouette Cameo and Papertrey Ink Easter Gift bag and tag

8th-Anniversary-Logo

Hello everyone,

I'm back for the PTI 8th birthday celebrations again with a gift bag and tag for some yummy Easter treats.

I cut the bag on my Silhouette Cameo and stamped the bottom of it with Polka Dot Basics, and the top with BB: Hearts. I cut the small tag from Tag Sale 8 and added a little scalloped border from Lawn Fawn to the bottom. I stamped and cut the bunny from Polka Dot Parade #1 and added a a glittery tail, before finishing it off with the sentiment on a tiny banner .

This will be so easy to mass produce and it's good to have a head start on Easter!

Papertrey Ink Enjoy your day card

8th-Anniversary-Logo

Hi There,

I'm back for a quick visit to share another card I made for the Papertrey Ink Anniversary celebrations. This time Nichole challenged us to use at least two stamp sets to come up with a flower card. I decided to CASE one of my own cards and came up with this

I used Year of Flowers: Morning Glories and Harvest Berries. I stamped the background stripes in grey ink and then embossed the flowers in white before colouring them in with Copics. For the leaves in the right hand corner, I stamped the leaves in New Leaf Ink and then over stamped them with ripe avocado ink, but just on the leaf bases. This was so easy to do with my wonderful new MISTI tool  - I'm beginning to wonder how I ever managed without it!

I wanted to put some dewdrops on my card but each time I wanted to order them they were out of stock, so I decided to improvise. I stamped the berries in pink, then used drops of glossy accents, and when they were dried, I was quite pleased with them.

Papertrey Ink New Home card

8th-Anniversary-Logo

Hello everyone,

I hope you all had a great weekend and are rested for the week ahead. It may not have escaped your notice that I am a big fan of Papertrey Ink and they are celebrating their 8th birthday right now with lots of challenges and inspiration posts. I am already 4 days behind and playing catch up but I want to join in with as many challenges as I can. On the first day we were asked to chose a sketch and a colour scheme to produce a card and I chose these:-

PTI8-sketch-inspiration-4
PTI8-color-inspiration-4

I needed a new home card for some friends who are moving after 30 years and I came up with this card

I masked off a rectangle and inked it using 3 colours of ink with a distress ink tool, before stamping the words over it. I then impressed the panel with the Canvas and Linen Impression Plate, and layered up the panels. I die cut the house and banner and used foam tape to pop everything up. All the stamps are from Polka Dot Parade #10, and I finished it off with some dots I made with Ranger Enamel Accents, along with a little heart that I placed on the roof.

Silhouette Cameo and Papertrey Ink Christmas card

Hello everyone and I would like us to welcome Marina from My Perfect Life blog who is joining us as a new follower this week. Marina is on a number of Design Teams and has a very eclectic style so whatever design style you like, I think you'll find some inspiration over there. Like many of us Marina has a stash of unused stamps and she has resolved to empty the box over the coming year. All I can say is Good Luck with that plan Marina, but I suspect that if you are like me, new stuff will creep into the box when you aren't looking and the pile will  refuse to diminish!

It's time for another challenge over at Christmas Card Challenges and this time we challenge you to use mainly white on white.

I was inspired by a number of cards I have seen on Pinterest that use rows of white hearts with just one red one, and I decided to adapt this style for Christmas. I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out lots of little white baubles and I stuck them in rows before adding a little die cut snowflake on each line. On the bottom line I added one red bauble and placed the sentiment beneath it.

I had a hard time lining the baubles up but I love that pop of red, and I added a little gem on each snowflake to finish it off.

Why not pop over to see what the rest of the Design Team have to show this time - I think they have outdone themselves this week!

MFT Pure Innocence kraft Christmas card

Hello everyone and welcome to another challenge over at Christmas Card Challenges. This time we have been given a colour palette

and I came up with this card

The cute image is the Pure Innocence 'Overflowing Joy' stamp from, My Favorite Things , and I coloured her with Copic markers. The patterned papers are from Papertrey Ink and the shaped kraft card is from my stash.

Short and sweet today because the choir I'm in is singing in a choral competition and I'll be out all day, but do pop over to my Teamies blogs and see what delights they have for you this week.
