Paper Smooches new baby card

Hello everyone,

It's a dull, damp day here today so I am trying to avoid reorganizing my craft room by making a card and even more mess :) I'd like to offer a warm welcome to Tracy of Tracy's Treasures, who is joining us as a new follower this week. Tracey loves scrabooking and card making, and can even offer lots of home improvement advice which I could do with around here.

My blogging friend Darnell is guest designer for Addicted to CAS this month and she inspired me to join in.

The codeword is texture so I came up with this CAS card

I used the fabulous Paper Smooches set 'Plus One' to stamp the little pram. I embossed it in black to add a first bit of texture and then I coloured it with Copics. I thought it looked a little plain, so I added the smiley face to add to the cuteness, and I then grouped a selection of sentiments from the set and stamped them in black. I stenciled a few little hearts with red ink through a Heidi Swapp stencil, and when it had dried, I embossed the panel with the Papertrey Ink Linen Impression Plate to give more texture.

To finish the panel off, I replaced the stencil and added some clear texture paste to the hearts to to give them more depth and shine.

Silhouette Cameo and Holly Jolly Christmas Flip card

Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge

Hello everyone,

I hope you enjoyed the holiday weekend and had good weather for at least some of the time. We have had a lovely time seeing friends and family and we spent a nice afternoon singing at an arts festival with our choir. I love holiday weekends but I'm always pleased to get back into my craft room for a little down time after all the busyness. I'd like to welcome Stacey from Stacey's Creative Corner who is joining us as a new follower. Stacey is a member of a number of Design Teams, including the Silhouette Challenges and you can find lots of inspiration on her blog.

Today is the start of another challenge over at the Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge, and this time we are asked to use fancy folds on our projects. I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut a flip card and then cut mats with some Nestabilities Label dies to come up with this card.

I used an image called Bauble Border from our sponsor QKR Stampede and coloured it with Copics and a metallic gel pen. I also used a sentiment from the Papertrey Ink set Rustic Wreath, which I stamped  in scarlet jewel, my favourite Christmas ink. Here is the card standing up.

When you flip the card, you have the same image with a different sentiment from the same set. I finished the card off with a couple of die cut hearts and a stars.

I used scarlet jewel card for the base because I think it lends itself to masculine cards and I have a few men I send Christmas cards to and even though this has a couple of hearts on it, I think it is an okay guy card..

I'd like to enter this into

Simply Less is More - use die cuts I may be pushing it a bit with this because of the layers, but I think the clean design and lack of fussy embellishments respects the CAS approach.
52 Christmas Card Throwdown - something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue - my card, ink, Copics and dies are my 'old, the image is my 'new and the little hearts and one of the baubles are the blue.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great week.

Hero Arts Be Happy card

Hello everyone,

Yay, another Friday has rolled around and we have another holiday weekend to look forward to. The weather around here is not too wonderful at the moment but I am hopeful that it will pick up over the weekend. We were supposed to be going to a barbeque at a friend's house tonight but the weather has put an end to that so it will be supper inside instead!

I saw that

Hero Arts Logo

are having their Spring Sketch Challenge, and as I have never entered a Hero Arts challenge before, I decided to play along

sketch_challenge_500

I chose to use the bottom left hand side sketch with the tag on and came up with this contribution

I decided to die cut a tag aperture in the card and place the tag inside. I inked the Papertrey Ink tag with a couple of blue distress inks and then stamped and embossed the flower image on top. The stamp is from the Hero Arts Poetic Prints Blossom Etchings set which I have had for many years and it was good to break it out again. The stamp has a very short flower stem and as I needed a longer one for this project, I extended it with a fine tipped pen. I watercoloured the flower with distress ink, and added some glitter in the centre to add a little bling. A sentiment from Wplus9 Fresh Cut Florals, along with a couple of dots, finished the inside.

On the front of the card I stamped the Hero Arts cling Lattice background stamp and embossed it with clear powder for some shine and texture. I finally added a PTI die cut sentiment which I coated with a layer of Wink of Stella glitter brush pen.

Silhouette Cameo Gift Bag for Silhouette Challenges

Hello everyone,

I'm delighted to tell you that I am now a member of the Silhouette Challenges  Design Team and this is my first contribution.

It's the time for another challenge over at

Ch# 13 Gift Bag (No Boxes)
Begins: Thursday, May 1
Ends: Saturday, May 31

A blog dedicated to the Silhouette Cutting Machines.
You MUST use a Silhouette somehow in your project.

Sponsor this month is:

Vinyl Ease 30 Sheets of Permanent Adhesive Backed Vinyl for Craft Cutters,
6 by 12-Inch, Assorted

The challenge lasts for month but there is only just over a week left to get your entry in.

I made this gift bag with a cut from Lori Whitlock in the Silhouette Store (Design ID #45733). I cut it in pastel pink card and then stamped it with a polka dot background stamp before assembling it. I then cut some tiny onesies in a deeper colour from a border design (Design ID #9212) and added the letters and some stitching with a gel pen. A bow and a tiny stamped tag finished the bag off.

I wanted to have a matching little gift card so I used a similar onesie (Design ID #24816) to make one, and I really love all the frill detail on it. Now I just need someone to have a baby girl so I can put this to good use!

Wine Bottle Tags for Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge

Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge

Hello everyone,

Summer has arrived in my neck of the woods and it seems more than a little odd to be thinking of Christmas, but I'm slowly squirreling away lots of projects that will make this Christmas so much easier for me when all my cards are made ahead of time. I have this fantasy that I will be able to sit down with a glass of mulled wine in the first week of December, put some Christmas music on the player, and write my cards without feeling rushed. I'll be so laid back that I'll be able to add newsy notes to people I don't get to see too often, and really enjoy the process this time instead of frantically scribbling messages so I can get on with all the tasks still waiting to be done. Aahhh - it sounds good doesn't it? Well if you haven't made a start on your Christmas cards yet, why not join us at the Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge where you will have a weekly theme to inspire you and some prizes to be won. After all that talk about cards - the theme this week is 'anything but a card'! I thought about doing some home decor for this challenge, but decided on getting all the practical necessities completed before branching out. I have certain people who always get a bottle of wine from me at Christmas, and I always have a bottle wrapped under the tree for any unexpected visitors over the festive season, so I decided to make some wine bottle tags.

All the tags used the Papertrey Ink Wine bottle tag die and for this one I also die cut and stamped the multi layer tree from Polka Dot Parade #9. The sentiment was from Think Big Favorites #20 and I just cut some banner tails on the end. I cut the end of the bottle tag again in white card and added it to the bottom of the tag to add a little variety and finish off this bright, festive tag.

The next one is a little more muted

I used a Hero Arts fern and cone stamp and stamped it in Ocean Tides ink before colouring the cones with a Copic marker and adding some berries with gel pen and a little bit of glitter. I die cut the 'merry' several times and glued the words together to give a chipboard effect before painting over it with my Wink of Stella glitter brush. I added a block of ocean tides card to the bottom of the tag to give a slightly different look.

The final tag has a more masculine look

I cut the wine bottle tag in smokey shadow card and stamped over it with versamark ink and an Impression Obsession star background stamp. I then cut a round PTI tag and stamped and embossed it in white using a sentiment from PTI Over Under Easy: Holiday Additions Stamp Set. I added a metal snowflake charm with a black brad and scattered a few die cut red stars to add a pop of colour. This time I left the tag tails plain.

Here are all three together

I'd like to enter these into the

Bun in the Oven card

Hello everyone,

I'm back today to share an owl card but if you are here for the Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge Post today, please scroll down.

I've had these owl stamps from Marianne Designs for ages and they had never seen ink so when I saw that the challenge over at

 ************************************************************
Make My Monday

this week was owls, I just had to break them out and have a play. The big owl tummies called for paper piecing and reminded me of big pregnant tums, so I pulled out some sentiments from the Avery Elle Plus One set which were perfect for this idea. I cut the panel with an edger die for a little added interest without taking away from the CAS style of the card, and I inked around the edge with white ink to soften it.

I would like to play along with the challenge over at

Addicted to Stamps and More!

which this week is CAS, and I'd also like to enter the

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog

which this time is the letter M. As my card has Mummy owls on it, I hope it qualifies.

Finally, I'd like to enter the fairytale challenge - owls

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are enjoying your week.

Papertrey Ink Christmas card for Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge

Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge

Hello everyone and welcome to another challenge over at Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge. This time the challenge is Christmas Greenery and we are sponsored by

Oak Pond Creations

and

Lacy Sunshine

I came up with this card

I used a fern stamp from Papertrey Ink Bells and Boughs along the border and I added some berries with a glaze pen to add some shine. The wreath is from PTI Rustic wreath, and I stamped it with distress ink then drew out the colour with a wet brush, and repeated the shiny berries. I stamped the sentiment (from the same set) in the centre and added a die cut heart and gem. A couple of strips of paper finished it off.

I'd like to enter this into the challenges at

Thanks for stopping by and enjouy your week.

Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge - Bugaboo Christmas Card

Hello everyone, I hope you enjoyed the weekend and that those of you who have had Mother's Day, were spoiled rotten and waited on from morning until night!  I don't know where the weeks are going but it is time for another challenge over at the Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge Blog

Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge

This time we are sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps

and the challenge is to use traditional colours. I used the Christmas Words 'Noel' digi stamp and came up with this card

I paper pieced by printing the image onto some holly paper and some silver card before cutting the letters out, and I tried some tiny doodling on the candy cane and stocking. Some Copic colouring  to the bow, and some flower soft for the stocking finished off the image and I then stamped the sentiment (from Papertrey Ink), and matted the image onto the card.

I'd like to enter

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great week.

Silhouette Cameo CAS card

Hello everyone,

I don't know why I still love holiday weekends when I don't have to go to work, but I do, and this weekend I'm looking to spend some time with family, some time with friends and some time crafting - so what could be better.

The current CASology challenge has the codeword 'Electric'

which I have to admit had me stumped for a while. But I know someone who is having to burn the midnight oil to get an important piece of work finished and wanted to make a 'thinking of you' type card for her, so I decided to combine the two. I immediately thought of the coffee machine that keeps her awake, and came up with this card.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut a coffee pot, die cut a scalloped panel, and mixed up a lot of stamps from different sets to make the sentiment. I was inspired again by the white on white panel on Gillian's card for the current Muse Challenge, and I'd also like to enter the current challenge at Make My Monday which is Food and Drink.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Hugs
