Welcome Home card

Hello everyone,

I'm back today with a quick post to share a card. I have some good friends who returned from a 3 month cruise yesterday and wanted to make a little card to welcome them back after their adventures.

I kept this very simple with an embossed sentiment and the pink die cut and stamped house. I added a striped paper heart to the house and put glossy accents over it for some shine, and finally added three flower sequins for some extra sparkle.

I was inspired by the current Muse challenge card by Gillian Ross

which had lots of white space and a pop of pink.

I also wanted to play for the first time over at Keep it Simple challenge

where we are asked to use bright colours and sparkly things.

The challenge at the Cas-ual Fridays challenge this time is to use threes and this has three layers and three sequins.

That's all for today, but thanks so much for stopping by and have a great day.

Embossed Christmas Card for Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge

Hello everyone and a specially warm welcome to Diane at 1cardcreator  who is joining us as a new follower this week. I'm here today for another challenge over at the Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge

                                           Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge

This week we are sponsored by Fitztown and the challenge is to use embossing on a card. I decided to use both dry embossing and heat embossing and came up with this card

I used a Paper Smooches Borders 1 die to cut the top panel in two and then embossed the top part with a Design Objectives snowflake embossing folder. I added some glitter and gems to the top panel before heat embossing the Papertrey Ink sentiment in Scarlet Jewel on the bottom panel. I curved the 'sending Holiday Joy' sentiment on my acrylic block before embossing it in white on the Scarlet Jewel card base. Finally, I added the top panels to the base with foam pads, leaving a gap for the sentiment to show through.

I'd like to enter this into the following challenges

Christmas at Sweet Stamping - glitter
Completely Christmas - anything goes
52 Christmas Card Throwdown - glitter

Papertrey Ink Stitched Love birthday card

Blog-hop-logo

Hello everyone,

Its the day for the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop and this time Nichole gave us some embroidery inspiration.
April-Blog-Hop-Inspiration

Now I have never been very good with a needle but I decided to try and rise to the challenge and have a go with a real needle and thread, as well as some stamped stitches. I used the PTI Stitched Sentiments stamps and the accompanying embroidery hoop and banner dies.

I started by stitching the border on a panel of card, and then added a strip of Spring Moss card. The white card looked a bit stark and in need of some texture, so I used an Impression Obsession background stamp, and embossed it with clear embossing powder. I then cut the embroidery hoop in white and red, and stamped the hoop with Kraft ink, and the top screw part with silver embossing powder to give a metal effect. The red circle was stamped and embossed in white, and inserted into the hoop. The banner was cut in spring moss and backed with another banner cut from stripey red paper, before having the sentiment stamped and embossed in white. This was all matted onto pure poppy card and then onto the base card. This picture doesn't show the texture very well, but you can see it a little better on this one.

I was quite pleased with how the screw part looks - so cute!

I'd like to play along with

the challenge over at Addicted to Stamping
Addicted to Stamps and More!
which this time is Make Your Mark, and I hope that making my mark with a needle and thread counts.

Snowman with Snowballs card

Hello everyone,

I hope you had a wonderful Easter holiday, and had enough chocolate to satisfy your sweet tooth. We had a lovely peaceful weekend spent mostly with family and friends, and the weather was gorgeous, so I feel that spring has well and truly sprung at last. I enjoyed using my Silhouette Cameo for my last card, so I turned to it again to make some table favours for our family Easter Dinner

I embossed some glassine bags with an embossing folder and used a file from the Silhouette store and lots of snippets of card and paper to make the bag toppers. Some of the card ( on the chick, the grass, and the word) looked a bit stark, so I used background stamps to give them a little 'texture'.

Inside were some chocolate chip cookies, dipped in yet more chocolate, along with a little chocolate bunny.

Anyway, for my card today we are going forward to Christmas for the Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge

Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge

We have reached week 16 already and this time the theme is Snowmen/Snowballs, and there is a prize from our sponsor 2 Cute Ink up for grabs. Here is my card

I took some textured navy card and used texture paste, some glitter and a stencil to add a snowy background. The snowman was stamped, embossed, coloured  and cut out, before I attached him to the panel with foam pads next to a pile of snowballs. Finally, I made a sentiment panel and added it to the top of the card. This cheerful scribble snowman is my favourite snowman of all time, and I can just imagine him throwing all those snowballs when my back is turned!

I'd like to enter this into

Christmas at Sweet Stamping Challenge - glitter, glitter everywhere.

Silhouette Cameo Umbrella card

Hello everyone,

As we start the Easter holidays, I would like to wish you all a wonderful, peaceful Easter, and take the opportunity to thank you for visiting my blog and leaving all the lovely comments and encouragement that make my time spent blogging so worthwhile. I love this hobby of ours because it not only gives me hours of pleasure creating things to share, but it has also given me the opportunity to 'meet' so many friendly and caring people. Enough of the soppy stuff and on to a card I'd like to share for a challenge that is new to me:-
The Card Concept

This time the challenge was to use an umbrella and the 'concept' is to choose to make the card in one of 6 different styles as outlined on the blog. I chose to opt for 'clean and layered'. Now I have wanted to enter this challenge for some time but I haven't had enough time. This week has been quieter for me so I thought I'd have a go, but then I saw the theme and felt a bit deflated because I don't have a single umbrella stamp in my stash! I know - with all the stuff that is stashed away, I was sure I would find an umbrella somewhere, but no, not a single one was to be found. I was about to give up until next time when I remembered that I have a magic machine (Silhouette Cameo) in the corner and that it could whip up an umbrella for me in the wink of an eye! I soon came up with this card

Sad to say, that an umbrella was not the only thing missing in my stash. I also did not have an appropriate sentiment for my card, so I turned to the computer and made one. You don't want to know how long it took me to get the spacing for the umbrella handle right, but it came out okay in the end. I used snippets of Memory Makers card Kids Collection 'Emma' that has been sitting around for years; the L'il Inkers stitched square dies to mat up the card, I and finished it off with some Wink of Stella glitter brush for the raindrops and a glitter pen for the centres of the flowers.

Holly Jolly Christmas challenge 'reason for the season'

Hello everyone, and welcome to another challenge over at the Holly Jolly Christmas challenge

Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge

This time we are sponsored by The Stamping Boutique and the theme is the Reason for the Season. I came up with this card

I stamped my image, coloured it with Copics and added some shine with Wink of Stella glitter brush to the wings and dress sleeve. I grounded the figure, chalked round the edges, and mounted it onto a base which I embossed with a L'il Inkers Stitched Rectangle die.I took some time with the sentiment - searching through all my stamps until I could find the word 'choose' to add to the Peace on Earth. For me, that is the reason for the season - that we can all 'choose' a peaceful path, and that unless we do so, the world will continue to be a scary place for so many vulnerable people.

I'd like to enter this into the

Thanks for stopping by and why not pop over to the Holly Jolly Christmas blog to see what my talented teamies have produced and join in with our challenge.

Waltzingmouse Stamps Easter card

Hello everyone,

I've just popped on with a quick post to share an Easter card I made with Waltzingmouse stamps.

I stamped and embossed the eggs along the side of the panel and  watercoloured them with ink. I then stamped, and watercoloured another egg, cut it out and covered it with glossy accents. I stamped the sentiment and little flourish, added a few hearts and fixed the panel to the base card before adding the extra egg with some foam tape.

I used the colours from the current Dynamic Duos challenge

and was inspired by the photo inspiration over at Addicted to Stamping with the zigzag eggs

I'd also like to enter the Casual Fridays challengel which is

Thanks for stopping by and have a good week.

Papertrey Ink baby card

Hello everyone, and a specially warm welcome to Deepti who is a new follower this week. Deepti is a designer on a number of challenges and I'm sure you'd get a lot of inspiration from her lovely blog.

I'm enjoying the weekend, hanging out with my daughter and we're celebrating the news that one of her oldest friends has just had her first baby, a boy! We spent some time yesterday shopping for cute baby clothes and this morning I made a card for her using stamps from my stash - the Bundle of Joy Papertrey Ink stamp set, and some snippets of card from my scrap box.I used the colours from the Color throwdown challenge which was to use these colours

and I came up with this card

I didn't have the exact colours but I used PTI spring rain, aqua mist and lemon tart. I paper pieced the baby shawl, added a little star to it, and embossed the sentiment in white onto the blue card before cutting a a banner tail onto it. Snippets of stripey DP and some extra stars finished it off.

I'd like to enter this into the
Shopping our stash challenge which was to paper piece, and

My Besties Challenge Clean and simple, and

Simon Says Monday Challenge which is journey - a birth is a long journey for that stork!!

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge 'Ribbon and Bling'

Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge

Hello everyone, and welcome to another challenge over at the Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge. This time the challenge is to use ribbon and bling and our sponsor is Eureka Stamps

finally the stamps you've been looking for rubber stamp company Rubber Stamps, Gold Leaf, Foil, and Glass Beads for Stampin, Scrapbooks, Card Making, and Paper Crafts

I used one of their images 'Large Christmas Cat' on my card because I fell for the cute smiley cat with the bauble tied to his tail!

I kept the design simple, using Copics to make him a marmalade cat, and then adding some Wink Of Stella glitter pen to give him a little sparkle. The image has some ribbon and a bell tied around his neck and I threaded some real ribbon and a silver bell to to give more dimension. I matted the panel onto some mirrie card and  paper pieced the bauble with it for more shine. Finally, I die cut the 'Merry' from some orange card and added some glitter for a last bit of bling. Here is a close up as it was a dull day and the photo did not show it very well.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great week.

Clearly Besotted birthday card

Hello everyone,

I hope you are all looking forward to another weekend and that you have some fun planned. I'm sorry I haven't been round to visit these last couple of weeks but my DH had an operation that he had been awaiting for a long time, and then I came down with an ear and sinus infection so it hasn't been a barrel of laughs around here. I wasn't even sure where my sinuses were before this, and who knew they could hurt so much? Oh well, the good news is that we are both a lot better and I hope to spend some crafty time over the weekend and catch up with what you've all been up to.

I wanted to play along with the Addicted to CAS challenge, and this time the code word is

I have a lovely little stamp set from Clearly Besotted called Good Times that had yet to see ink so I used it and came up with this card

I stamped the tiny butterflies escaping from the basket and cut a few out and stuck them on to give more movement to their flight. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink and I snipped it apart to make it easier to stamp it on 2 lines and to make it dual coloured.

I'd also like to enter this into to Addicted to Stamps and More

                                       GRAB OUR BADGE!

which has CAS as the challenge this week, and the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge which is anything goes.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.

Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge

Hello everyone and welcome to another challenge over at the Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge. Our Hostess is Meighan  and the challenge is 'Gingerbread' We are sponsored this time by

http://www.bugaboostamps.com/

I came up with this card which I cut on my Silhouette Cameo using kraft card.

I added detail to the little gingerbread men with white gel pen, black enamel accents and snippets of red card which I punched tiny circles from. I used a die from Papertrey Ink to cut the bow ties. The sentiment was embossed with white embossing powder, and a couple of hearts finished it off. I love making gingerbread items and here is a look back at a couple of things I made previously and if you want to know more, just click on the links.
