Birthday card for Papertrey Ink Blog hop

Hello everyone, and a very warm welcome to Beanie and Little Dotty Bird who are new followers this week.

We are still in the midst of decorating but after missing the last Papertrey Ink Bloghop, I just had to play along this time so I made a quick card so I could join in.

This time we were asked to make a card that is tilted in some way and this is what I came up with

I scored lines of various thicknesses on my scoreboard at a tilted angle, and then inked them to make them more prominent. I really like to extend sentiments and I think I have a personal record here of using 4 different ones on 4 pieces card. I used tag dies and the photo finishers die along with stamps from a few sets that I will list if anyone wants to know more. But for now a paintbrush is shouting my name and I'll have to look in later.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy looking at all the inspiration on offer today.

Happy Birthday easel card

Hello everyone and an extremely warm welcome to Deb and Carole who are new followers this week. Thank you for your response to my  Inspiration Showcase post and I will certainly repeat these from time to time.

We have had a busy time lately and I can't see much let up for a while because now the warmer weather means that we can at last open windows, I have suggested to my dh that we do some decorating. We need to start with our bedroom which has been in need of a lick of paint for several years and now looks downright dogeared. In spite of seeing mixed reviews on the Internet, I've invested in the Dulux Paint Pod machine which was in a sale and have my fingers crossed that this might make the job a little easier. We are decorating on a strict budget and I want some new pictures to put on the wall so I think I will try some of my own for the first time! Brave hey?

I made this little easel card for the Cute Card Thursday Cakewalk challenge

I used up some scraps of paper and card and cut the scalloped circle on my Cameo. The cake stamp is an old one and I'm not sure where it came from - but it looks yummy to me now that I am heading back to Weight Watchers after putting  some weight back on since I stopped going!

I'd also like to enter this into the Make it Monday anything goes challenge , the Addicted to Stamping birthday challenge and My Clever Creations birthday card challenge

Thanks for looking in and have a great week.

Inspiration Showcase

Hello everyone,

I want to try a different kind of post today. I have mentioned before how appreciative I am that so many people have chosen to follow or visit my blog, and I get a real boost from the kind comments that are left for me to see. I also get tremendous inspiration from visiting my follower's blogs and would like to introduce some of that work to you so that you can visit them if you choose and see their talent for yourselves. I am not sure of the etiquette of doing this and I don't want to offend anyone by providing a link to their blog if they would rather not participate, so please let me know if you do not like it and I will take the entry down as soon as possible.

The first person I want to show you is Anne from Love Making Things. Anne lives in Wales, has been a follower since my early days of blogging and has always been supportive and friendly. Anne's blog is a great place to visit because she has so many interests that she shares. She loves needle crafts as well as papercrafts and she has a big interest in vintage items which she uses to great effect, and to top it all she is an excellent photographer. Ann'es latest post is an excellent tutorial on making hanging decorations using vintage embroidery

and I recommend that you pop right over there. I bet you will want to get a needle out straight away.

The second person I want to introduce is Joyce from Cards by the Sea. Joyce lives in California and is a really kind person who goes out of her way to be helpful. Joyce is a  most prolific card maker and can produce several lovely cards in one sitting when it takes me most of a day to come up with just one! This is her latest card,

made for a sketch challenge and it is a great sample of her bright, eclectic style.

The last person I want to introduce this time is Tracey from In my Creative Opinion. Tracey lives in Ontario, Canada and is extremely kind and supportive. She is on the Design Team for CASology and Colour Q Royal Court and I can always rely on getting some inspiration when I visit her blog. The link takes you to a beautiful card she made recently

for a Muse challenge. Tracey really excels at CAS designs.

Well that wraps it up for this time but if you like what you have seen today, I will do a similar, regular post.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope this has brightened up your Monday.

40th Anniversary Card

Hello everyone and a very warm welcome to Debbie and Alanna who are much appreciated new followers this week.

I was looking at this inspiration photo

on the Avery Elle challenge blog which says wedding reception to me, and I was reminded of attending a wedding 40 years ago because the friends who got married are about to celebrate their Ruby Wedding Anniversary. We will be joining in their celebrations in a couple of weeks and I wanted to make a special card for them, so I decided to CASE one of my own cards from 2011

This time I used Papertrey Ink Scarlet Jewel colours which fitted the Ruby Wedding theme perfectly. I used PTI Limitless Layers Heart dies to put a heart inside the card and embossed the sentiment in white using Avery Elle Count On It stamps

I then die cut another heart and stamped it with stamps from PTI With all my Heart, embossing the background stamp with clear embossing powder to give some shine

When the card is closed, the two hearts rest together to give a lovely layered effect. I put an eyelet into the smaller heart and attached some thread so I could dangle it from the sop of the aperture and used a ribbon punch to cut slots so I could tie some ribbon and hide the hole at the top.

A sentiment finished it off.

I am also going to enter this into the current Lexi's Creations challenge to use die cuts and punches, and the Simon Says Stamps challenge which is to use rain or flowers on a project.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great weekend.

30th Birthday card - Papertrey Ink

Hello everyone and a very warm welcome to Irene and Di who are new followers this week.

I have been having a very busy time recently hand have had little time to craft but I thought I'd share a 30th birthday card I made recently with the lovely Papertrey Ink Banner Builder Dies and stamps.

I cut the banner pieces in aqua mist felt and used an alphabet die to cut the name. The  number was cut on my Cameo and I stamped it with a little floral stamp in versamark ink to give it a little interest

I'd like to enter this into theSimon Says Stamps challenge which has a birthday theme to celebrate its 4th birthday. There are some prizes up for grabs that would easily find a place on my desk but as I will be the 710th entry!!! I won't hold my breath. I would also like to enter it into the Make it Monday  anything goes challenge, and the Creative Corner challenge which is for a girly birthday.

I hope you have a great week and thanks for stopping by.

Papertrey Ink Wishing you happiness card

Hello everyone,

I hope you had a good Easter break and are rested ready for the lovely month of April. We have had glorious sunshine for almost a week now but it has been incredibly cold and the flowers are all behind. Nevertheless, the clocks have changed and we have lighter evenings to look forward to and all is right with my world.

I'd like to share a card that was inspired by this lovely card by Laurie Willison for the current Muse challenge

IMG_9515_edited-1

I wanted to make an anniversary card for a close friend of mine so I took the green, white and aqua colours and the use of an aperture as inspiration for this card

I made a layered mat and then cut a heart aperture in it. I cut the heart shape again and then triple stamped the flower, leaves and greeting images on it. Next I stamped the sentiment and tied a ribbon on the panel before using dimensional adhesive to give some depth, A few little green hearts finished it off. The stamps and dies were from Papertrey Ink apart from the little hearts which were from Simon Says Stamps.

I would also like to enter this into the Simon Says Stamps challenge for anything goes, and for my first play along with the Party Time Tuesdays challenge which is for ribbons and blooms.

Thanks for stopping by
