Papertrey Ink Christmas Card

Blog-hop-logo

Hello everyone,

Its the Papertrey Ink blog hop today and this time Nichole challenged us to use a book cover as inspiration for a project. I chose to use the cover of the book Simple Abundance by Sarah Ban Breathnach

I am drawn to the colours and tree design on this cover and used harvest gold, chocolate brown and scarlet jewel in my card. I cased the tree panel on the book but used a Christmas tree from the 'Believe' set so I could add to my Christmas card pile. I wanted it to be a flat card for posting so I first cut and coloured the tree and then made a panel and cut out the tree shape from it with the tree die.

I then inserted the cut and coloured tree so that it fit snugly in the panel and had a kind of embossed look that I liked.

I freehand cut and stamped a little pot to ground the trunk, mounted the panel and stamped a sentiment to make the finished card.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy hopping today for all the inspiration you will find.

Papertrey Ink Birthday Card

Hello everyone, and a warm welcome to Bobbkat who is a new follower this week.

I hope you are having a good weekend and getting in some crafty time. Thank you for all your good wishes whilst I was feeling poorly - it really cheered me to read them, and I am feeling much better now. I don't think I have mentioned that my husband has started a gardening blog and if any of you are also interested in spending time in your garden, you may find something to interest you  here. He is very new at it and feeling a bit lonely over there so I am sure he would appreciate your visit.

I have just made a card for a good friend who is having a significant birthday this week. One that has a zero on the end. And she is so not looking forward to it that she has arranged to be away from home for the week! Not the time to make a card with my number dies then.

I came up with this one

I used my Silhouette Cam to cut the scallop edge and the rest of the cuts were with various PTI dies and the stripe impression plate. The stamps were from 2012 Birthday Tags and Birthday Bash Sentiments. I hope she likes it.

Thanks for stopping by

Memory Box Die Christmas cards

Hello everyone,

Sorry to have been absent for a while but I have been coping with a nasty cold and stomach bug and therefore I was not not feeling very crafty. I have a card to share today that is a case from a card demonstrated in the Online card class by Jennifer McGuire

This card involved making a mask from the Memory Box Country Landscape die and then using distress inks to create the landscape. When the mask was removed, the snow horizon was exposed and I just added a line of stickles to give it a little sparkle.

I have some tall, thin envelopes that I want to use up so I made a tall thin card using the same die.

This time I used a portion of the die cut against some blue card that was inked around the edges. I added a silhouette stamp of  Santa in the sky and white embossed the sentiment before adding some ribbon and a bow.

I hope to get back to looking at my favourite challenge blogs soon, but I'm still feeling a bit icky so it may be a few days.

Thanks for stopping by
Bugs - sorry - HUGS!

Papertrey Ink Christmas card

Hello everyone,

I'm playing catch up on the Online Holiday Card Workshop but I know that the classes will come in very useful over the coming weeks even if I don't finish with everyone else. For Day 5 we were asked to use die and stamp combos so I used Papertrey Ink Tree Trimming Trio stamp set and die, and was inspired by a card from Shari Carroll to produce this one:-

I cut a strip off the front of the card and put the tree over the edge. Some  patterned paper on the inside

adds a little more interest. The red panel was embossed with a snowflake embossing folder from Design Objectives.

Thanks for stopping by.

Papertrey Ink Christmas card

Hello everyone,

Just a quick drop in to post a card from yesterdays Online card class. We were asked to use dry embossing on a card and I was inspired by a background Jennifer made with a score board to come up with this one.

I embossed diagonal lines at random on my scoreboard and then inked over them with pale blue ink to use as the background on this card

I stitched a cute little mitten button onto the bow.

That's another one for the pile, but this one will have to be hand delivered because of the bow. Thanks for looking.

Hugs
