shaped baby card

Hello everyone,

I hope you are having a good weekend wherever you are and are having better weather than we are here in Manchester. It started raining on Friday and doesn't seem to have stopped since then. I mustn't grumble though because the gardens really need the water and some drought ridden areas of the country would be delighted to have a wet period.

I'm still busy working on the wedding scrapbook and will share some pages when it is finished but today I want to share a card I made for the 'A Cut Above' course. We were asked to make a shaped card and were shown how to weld shapes together on the Silhouette Cameo. I followed the instructions to come up with this new baby card for some friends who have just had a baby called Alfie.

I decided that the card would make a cute new baby card but didn't have a suitable sentiment so I typed one on the computer and printed it so it would appear in the round aperture. It is difficult to see in the picture but I inked up a circle around the sentiment on the liner using a mask. I stuck the cut out heart onto the inside of the card and stamped Alfie's name on it, before using Papertrey Ink BB Twinkle to stamp a background on the card with versamark ink to give it a little more depth and interest.

I coloured a gem with black copic marker for the eye and tied a little bow with some twine attached to a tiny tag to finish it off.

I'm really enjoying this course and will definitely come up with something for each of the lessons when I have more time.

Thanks for stopping by.

New Baby card - Papertrey Ink

Hello everyone,

Blog-hop-logo

It is the day of  the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop and this is the inspiration photo that Nichole posted for us.

I am also following the 'A Cut Above ' on line card class and for Day 3 we were asked to make a shaped card so I decided to combine the two and took my colours of shades of pink and blue from the photo to make a new baby card.

I cut the card shape on my Silhouette Cameo and was inspired by Erin Lincoln to make the white frills using nestability scalloped and plain oval and circle dies. The giraffe was cut and stamped with Papertrey's Sweet Baby stamps and die, and the background strip was stamped with Background Basics Hearts

This is the first time I have used this cute stamp set and I loved the sweet giraffe.

I added a gem for the eye and cut a tiny felt heart from one of the Love Lives Here dies. The sentiment was from Lily of the Valley and a Tiny Tag with a little bow around the neck finished it off.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the Hop.

Welcome Home card Papertrey Ink

Hello everyone, and welcome to Annie who is a new follower this week.

I've been busy working on the wedding scrapbook and have managed to complete several layouts but there is a long way to go and I haven't had much time to follow the on line course I signed up for called 'A Cut Above'.

The first lessons are about using die cuts and have been very informative and I hope to be able to either make a new card for each lesson, or highlight a previously made card that uses the required technique because of time constraints.

Lesson  1 was simply to use die cuts on a card and  I made a Welcome Home card for some friends who have just returned from a 3 month cruise. They were very sensible to go away for our winter and have returned just in time for all the spring colour. I had missed them and thought it was appropriate to hang the flags out so I made a springlike card to reflect this

I started by inking up a plain panel of card to make a background sky and grass, and then added a banner that I fussy cut and stamped with a sentiment before fixing it to a stamped cord. I die cut a birdhouse and some birds to sit on a garden gate and added a little foliage and and a couple of flowers.

All materials were from Papertrey Ink.

You may remember the  bon voyage card  I made for these friends when they set out on their cruise, using die cuts from my Silhouette Cameo.

Day 2 of the course was to use a die to make a window card and here is one I made a little while ago that fits the bill

I hope to catch up with the course, especially when it gets on to using the Silhouette cutter because I need lots of instruction to get to grips with that!

Thanks for stopping by.

Papertrey Ink sympathy card

Hi everyone, and welcome to Mary J and Crafty Starkie who are new followers this week. I really appreciate those of you who decide to follow my blog or leave such sweet comments - it's what makes this blogging thing worthwhile.

I hope you have are having a good weekend. We went to see a show on Friday night and then had some friends round for dinner last night, so today is for some down time and starting to plan the wedding scrapbook I have promised to my friend. It is ages since I have made a scrapbook so I am both excited and scared about how it will turn out. Am I the only one who gets nervous about committing things to paper? I place pictures and embellishments on the pages and endlessly move them around over several days before I take the plunge and stick them down.

I enjoyed the CAS card on line class so much in January that I have signed up for another one that starts tomorrow, and this time it is for using cutters. I am more or less okay with die cuts but I have so much to learn about electronic cutting and I hope it will help me get to grips with my Cameo.

Today I'd like to share a card I made for a lovely neighbour and member of my Book Group whose husband sadly passed away a couple of weeks ago after a long battle with cancer. I always find sympathy cards so hard to make but I think the PTI stamp set 'With Sympathy' really hits the spot.
After stamping the foliage image in spring moss ink and adding the roses in yellow, I used the canvas embossing plate to give a little texture.

I cut the ribbon banner die in white and green, stamped the sentiment on the white one and then cut it down and matted it onto the green one

the ribbon is PTI ripe avocado bitty dot.

Thanks for looking and have a great week.

Silhouette Cameo Wedding Card

Hello everyone, and welcome to Katrina and Cheryl who are new followers this week. We have had a very hectic but enjoyable week attending my friend's wedding and celebrating my youngest son's birthday, so I am ready for a chilled weekend. The family are coming this evening for Easter Sunday Dinner and I am sure that chocolate is going to feature heavily!!

You may remember I mentioned that my friend had a surprise proposal on Valentine's Day and I held a Hen Night for her a couple of weeks ago. The wedding itself was a small but beautiful affair and my husband and I felt privileged to be their witnesses. I was very nervous because I had been asked to take the photographs, and as a VERY amateur photographer, I didn't want to mess it up. My biggest fear came to pass and  it was a wet day so all the photo's had to be taken indoors with all the lighting problems that comes with artificial lighting and shadows etc. My husband also took some shots in case mine were a disaster, but I when I got home and put them on the computer, I was relieved to find that there are enough reasonable shots for the Bride and Groom to have a pleasant record of the day. Now I just need to edit them and make up a scrapbook for the happy couple.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to make the wedding card with a Hero Arts Heart Tree cut which I cut in brown and red card. I then just snipped out the red hearts and adhered them over the brown ones.

I used some Craftwork Cards pearlescent paper (this has a lovely sheen that doesn't show up on the photo) for the background and sentiment mats, and Papertrey Ink sentiments. I wanted to use a heart button on the bow but I only had a pale pink one that didn't look right so I used Copic markers to colour it and as I used several coats to get it to the shade I wanted, I ended up with a really nice veined effect which I liked and will use again.

I also made a little tag to attach to the gift with all Papertrey Ink materials.

I'm going to enter the card into the Simon Says challenge which is to use your favourite tool and at present this is my Cameo and guillotine

Well I think I have rambled on for long enough now so I would just like to wish you a very Happy Easter and say thank you for looking in.
Hugs
