Silhouette Birthday Card

Hi everyone,

I hope you have been having a good weekend. I have had a busy one, but I wanted to pop on line to share a card with you. I have been trying out my Silhouette Cameo and I'm slowly learning the software functions and coming to grips with all it can do. I have to say I am very impressed so far with the quality of the cuts. The Silhouette shop is very easy to use, and they have such a lot of shapes available that I have taken out a subscription so I can collect the ones I like over the year. I've yet to try the print and cut, and the fabric cutting but I'm looking forward to playing with those features soon. If you know of any good blog sites for the Silhouette, do please share because I need lots of tips. I'm starting very slowly so I made a simple birthday card using a cupcake shape:-

The sentiments are from Papertrey Ink Signature Greetings and  Enjoy the Ride. Mmm, chocolate cake with raspberry icing- one of my many favourites!

Thanks for looking. Have a good week.

Thank you card for Papertrey Blog Hop

Hi everyone,

Thank you to Stella and Onecraftymama for your advice over my Blogger problem. I have taken your advice and installed Chrome which has done the trick.

I'm sorry my series on the CAS course stopped so abruptly but life got in the way again and although the course is now over, I hope to finish it over the next few weeks. I really enjoyed trying other peoples techniques and I've decided that I must try casing more because I'd get a lot more cards made without waiting for inspiration to strike me!

Today is Papertrey Blog Hop day and this month "we are challenging you to pick your favourite project from 2011 and share it with all of us!  To take it a step further, you are also challenged to create a second card that is inspired by the favourite project you select.  Your new version of an old favourite could carry over the colour scheme, the layout or the stamp sets."

I picked this card that I made last year because I loved the colours and the use of the sentiments

Because I didn't have much time, I just copied it in another colour but with a plain star this time as my daughter asked me to make this for her but she didn't like the multi coloured star.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy all the inspiration you find on the hop today.

Cas card Day 6

Hi everyone,

I'm still having problems with Blogger - am I the only one? When I click to look at the comments I just get a blank page and can only view them via the dashboard. Still having problems leaving comments too.

Oh well, I'm still enjoying the CAS card class and here is my offering for Day 6. We were shown how to make a flower out of 6 circles of patterned paper:-

I clear embossed a heart roller stamp that had never seen ink down the left side of the card

Thanks for looking and I hope you are having a good week.

CAS Day 5 Get Well card

Hello everyone,

I hope you have had a good weekend. Ours was quite busy but I did find time to catch up with the CAS course and complete the assignment for Day 5 which was to emboss card and then do colour blocking with a watercolour technique. I made a get well card for a friend who has just come out of hospital after an operation:-

I used bright colours in the hope it would cheer her up while she recuperates.

Is anyone else having trouble with Blogger at present? I am finding that I cannot always comment on the blogs I visit and I can't view the comments on my own blog. This has been going on for a few days now and doesn't seem to be resolving. Any tips would be welcomed.

I'm off to look at today's lesson now.

Thanks for stopping by.

CAS cards Day 4

Hi everyone,

I'm still playing catch up but here is my offering for day 4 where we had to use die cut letters on a card. I stamped a background polka dot pattern on the letters in white and added an embossed sentiment and little bird from PTI Birds of a Feather. I cut the letters on the Silhouette Cameo and I'm really getting to like this machine.

CAS Course Day 3

Hi everyone,

Its day 4 of the course and I'm still on Day 3 but I'm hoping to catch up at the weekend. Day 3 assignment was to create a one colour card with stacked die cuts and I used the Silhouette again to cut multiple flowers and then glued them together to add dimension. I've always wanted to try white on white so this is what I came up with:-

I couldn't do a white sentiment or it wouldn't have been visible so I used my new PTI dye ink which was juicy enough to add some clear embossing powder to

and I think the shine really added to the look of the card.

Bon Voyage card and CAS Course day 2

Hi everyone,

The assignment for Day 2 of the CAS course was to create a one layer card and this is my contribution:

I used Brilliance pigment ink in orchid and it has a very lovely sheen that doesn't show up in the photo

but looks very pretty in real life.

Some close friends of ours are just going off on a trip of a lifetime 3 month cruise and when I saw this anchor charm in my stash,

I just had to make a boat to go with it for a bon voyage card. I'm just getting used to my Silhouette Cameo machine and cut the boat and waves on it.

Thanks for looking.

New Baby Card and CAS card class

Hello everyone,

Welcome to Melissa who is a new follower this week. I hope you all had a good weekend and are easing gently into the new week. Our weekend was lovely and included attending a wedding at the Manchester City Art Gallery. At first, I thought it would just be the ceremony in such illustrious surroundings but the whole event took place there with drinks and nibbles in the Pre-Raphaelite Gallery and the wedding breakfast in the Atrium. A great day.

I'd like to share a couple of cards today. The first is a new baby card for a friend's daughter:-

I inked up my PTI Bundle of Love stamps for the first time and can imagine pulling this out lots more.

I've signed up for a Clean and Simple Card course which started yesterday because I love the style but never seem to achieve the look when I try myself, because I never know when to stop adding things! I hope to pick up lots of tips and this was the first assignment for the class:-

I used a PTI Flourishes stamp to create the border with Versamark ink and just punched a few daisies for the dimension. I outlined the inner square with a gel pen but my hand wasn't very steady so it went a bit wonky!

Thanks for looking.

Top 10 cards of 2011

Hi everyone,
A belated Happy New Year. I hope it brings good things for you, your family and friends. I'm not going to make lots of resolutions this year because as soon as I break one, I tend to give up. Instead I have a few intentions. I intend to spend a bit more time with friends this year and not let life get in the way. I intend to try a little more photography and get to know my camera. I intend to try a few different crafting challenges. I intend to get a bit more organised this year and maybe even pluck up courage to chat on some crafty forums.

Over on the Papertrey Ink Forum, they have a thread asking people to review their projects from last year and pick their top 10, so I thought I'd give it a go, and in no particular order here are mine:-

Just having lots of fun with different dies. link to original post

And lastly using this gorgeous stamp from Lily of the Valley. Link to original post.

Oh no, I just added that up to be 11 cards and I can't decide which one to remove so this has become my top 11. Sorry. I also note that my favourite PTI Aqua Mist and Hawaiian Shores cardstock get a lot of use, as does monochromatic colour schemes. Perhaps I should have the intention to be a bit more adventurous with colour too.

Thanks so much for looking.
